Bill Ivanich Receives 2014 Alumni Recognition Award

Bill Ivanich received the 2014 Computer Science Alumni Recognition Award as part of the Homecoming festivities on September 19. Bill is pictured with CS Department Head Jeff Braun (far left), Montana Tech Alumni Association Vice President Dean Bentley, and Chancellor Don Blackketter (far right). Bill is a Senior Manager with EchoStar Technologies and has over 14 years of experience in embedded software Engineering for set-top box development for the digital pay TV industry. He has worked to support the successful launch of several products; highlights involve software features related to interactive TV applications, DVR support, HD support, multiple language support, multiple branding support, and IP TV streaming support. He is either the inventor or co-inventor on 7 patents related to image compression and manipulation, user input controls, media analysis, user classification, and 3D TV buffer methods.

Bill was born and raised in Butte, Montana and attended Montana Tech where he graduated in 1998 with a BS in Engineering Science, Systems Control Option and graduated in 2000 with a BS in Computer Science. He joined the Computer Science Department Industry Advisory Board in 2001 and continues to serve as the EchoStar representative. Bill regularly attends the Montana Tech Career Fairs each fall and spring and has  recommended or hired numerous Computer Science and Software Engineering students at EchoStar.


Bill has been married for 14 years and spends much of his free time trying to keep up with his 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son.
